IND vs PAK T20 WC 27th Match Highlights: IND Won by 61 Runs

February 16, 2026

India sealed their Super 8 spot with a commanding 61-run win over Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium, extending their T20 World Cup dominance in this rivalry to 8–1.

On a surface offering grip and above-average turn, Pakistan committed heavily to spin, bowling 18 overs of it. But Ishan Kishan’s calculated assault and India’s new-ball precision exposed the imbalance, turning a high-voltage contest into a one-sided statement.

After posting 175/7, India bundled Pakistan out for 114 in 18 overs.

India Innings

Pakistan leaned heavily on spin, using six options and bowling 18 overs of it — the joint-most in a T20 World Cup innings. On a surface offering grip, they hoped to choke India through the middle.

Salman Agha removed Abhishek Sharma for 0, but Ishan Kishan quickly shifted the momentum. India reached 52/1 in the powerplay as Kishan attacked length decisively, especially through the off side. He dominated the 87-run stand with Tilak Varma (25 off 24), scoring 76 of those runs himself and bringing up his fifty in 27 balls.

Kishan’s 77 off 40 (10 fours, 3 sixes) neutralised the spin threat. Saim Ayub pulled things back with 3/25, reducing India to 126/4 in the 15th over. However, Shivam Dube’s 27 off 17 and Rinku Singh’s 11* off 4 ensured India closed strongly at 175/7 — a total that proved well above par on the night.

Pakistan’s Chase

India shut the chase down in the first two overs. Hardik Pandya opened with a wicket-maiden, removing Sahibzada Farhan for 0. Jasprit Bumrah then dismissed Saim Ayub and Salman Agha, leaving Pakistan 13/3. Axar Patel bowled Babar Azam for 5 as they slipped to 34/4 in the powerplay. India had been 52/1 after six overs; Pakistan were 38/4. That difference shaped the game.

There was also a clear new-ball contrast. India’s first two seam overs cost 13 runs and produced three wickets. Pakistan’s first two seam overs had gone for 31.

Usman Khan tried to hold it together, scoring 44 off 34, and added 39 with Shadab Khan, but the rate kept climbing. Tilak Varma chipped in with Shadab’s wicket. Varun Chakaravarthy then swung it decisively in the 16th over, taking two wickets in successive balls and going on a hat-trick.

By the end, India packed the field in close for Varun’s hat-trick ball to Usman Tariq, going all-out for the wicket.

It summed up the control. Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs, with all six Indian bowlers taking at least one wicket.
