ILT20 2025-26 Format & Points System Explained
The ILT20 follows a simple points system that keeps the competition tight and exciting:
- Win = 2 points: Every victory earns a team 2 points toward their total.
- Loss = 0 points: Losing teams don’t earn any points.
- No Result = 1 point: If rain or other factors prevent a match result, both teams get 1 point each.
- Tied matches: If scores are level after both teams bat, a Super Over decides the winner.
- Net Run Rate (NRR): When teams have equal points, NRR determines their ranking. Teams with better NRR rank higher.
Playoff Qualification Rules
The tournament follows a straightforward playoff format:
- Top 4 teams qualify: After the league stage, the top four teams on the points table advance to the playoffs.
- Qualifier 1: The 1st place team plays the 2nd place team. The winner goes directly to the final.
- Eliminator: The 3rd-place team plays the 4th-place team. The loser is eliminated from the tournament.
- Qualifier 2: The loser of Qualifier 1 plays the winner of the Eliminator. The winner advances to the final.
- Final: The winners of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 battle for the championship.
This format gives the top two teams two chances to reach the final, while the 3rd and 4th placed teams must win every playoff match to lift the trophy.

Desert Vipers defeated Dubai Capitals in the season opener after chasing down the target of 151 runs in 19 overs with four wickets in hand.
